Visa und Einreise
You must provide proof of insurance. Only the original policy serves as proof. If you wish to include a printout, please also include the proof of payment. It is your responsibility to demonstrate (if necessary, by highlighting the relevant section of the policy terms and conditions or providing confirmation from the insurer) that the insurance coverage applies even if your stay in Germany was planned from the outset as being longer than initially intended.
For a planned total stay of up to one year, the visa office will generally issue the visa for the entire planned stay. In all other cases, the visa is generally issued for six months, or three months for family reunification. The validity period of the insurance coverage should generally cover the validity period of the visa. However, this is only required until the applicant can prove that they have alternative insurance coverage in Germany.
